RFPG Membership

The Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow exists for the benefit of its Members and has, since before 1668, represented the interests of its Members and the legal profession in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

Objectives

The objectives of the Royal Faculty are -

• to advance the professional interests of its Members;
• to provide access to legal information through the Library; offering the highest possible levels of service to Members using the Library through appropriate and usefully organised resources and accurate, unbiased and courteous responses to all requests;
• to deliver the highest quality of education to Members at a price that reflects real added value;
• to continue to provide a centre for meetings and seminars which will be in constant demand.

Membership

Membership of the Royal Faculty is open to all solicitors who are members of the Law Society of Scotland, advocates and retired members of the legal profession.

There are a number of different types of Membership available -

• Practice Unit Membership - all members of the firm, including support staff, have full reading and borrowing rights within the Library.
• Individual Membership - only named individual can use library services.
• Retired Membership - for former members of the Royal Faculty or the Law Society of Scotland.
• Book Lending Scheme - reduced rate for firms and individuals practicing outwith the greater Glasgow area - no reading rights within the main Library or the Sheriff Court Information Suite - books can be sent by DX or LP and can use the Document Delivery service.
• Student membership - open to all Postgraduate law and Diploma in Legal Studies students

The Privileges of Membership

Membership of the Royal Faculty confers a number of privileges, among these are -
• Access to, and borrowing privileges with, the well-stocked Library;
• Reduced rates for attendance at CPD Seminars;
• Reduced rates of hall hire;
• Reduced rates for access to the Legal Vacancy Service;
• Access to the Discounted Book Scheme;
