Seminar Details This seminar will examine Scottish media law issues through the prism of the two BBC documentaries last autumn and this spring about Rangers FC, with an emphasis on defamation, privacy and contempt of court and a look at the practical processes involved in “legalling” a programme of this sort.
Rosalind McInnes worked in private practice in Edinburgh until joining the BBC from Maclay Murray & Spens fourteen years ago. She is now Principal Solicitor of BBC Scotland. Publications include “Scots Law for Journalists” (7th and 8th editions), “Contempt of Court in Scotland”, “Media Law and Practice” and “Law and the Media”. She also annotated the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and has spoken at media law events in the UK and abroad.
