A Practical Approach to Renewable Energy
Date 03/05/2012
Speaker Jacqueline Mitchell + Graham Bell (Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP)
Seminar Details This is an area in which the non-specialist solicitor is increasingly becoming involved and raises issues not previously dealt with. Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie’s Renewable Energy team will provide practical guidance. Specifically they will:
· give an overview of a renewables project
· examine the contrasting role for solicitors in small scale and large projects
· consider a chambers solicitor role in advising clients who are landowners

As part of the core Renewable Energy Team, Jacqueline Mitchell provides advice to our renewable energy clients on the wide range of legal documents required for a renewable energy project. Jacqui worked as a trainee at Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP before qualifying into the Renewables Group in 2007 and since then has provided assistance and advice to guide developers (and landowners) through the various aspects of a renewable energy project. Having attended a number of industry seminars and events in the five years since qualifying, Jacqui has also increased her general awareness and knowledge of the market, thereby ensuring that any legal advice being given is in line and up-to-date with industry developments.
Graham Bell is a partner in WJM’s Renewable Energy Group with expertise in joint ventures, banking and restructuring/insolvency. He is a Law Society accredited specialist in insolvency. Graham's experience includes an offshore wave project but is mainly onshore wind where he has recently been advising two landowning developers during funding transactions in connection with their windfarm developments.
