Unfair Dismissal – What Makes it Difficult for Practitioners
|Speaker||Stephen Miller (Partner, Simpson & Marwick)|
|Seminar Details||Since its introduction over 40 years ago there has been very little substantive change to the law of unfair dismissal. Yet, 25 years after presenting his first unfair dismissal claim, Stephen is still finding that litigating this type of claim in the tribunal is tricky, and can sometimes yield unexpected outcomes. In an interactive session, Stephen will address whether his difficulties are personal, being attributable to slow learning, or arise from inherent complexities in the law.
Stephen was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law and in 2007 was one of two inaugural recipients of the equivalent accreditation in discrimination law. Stephen also has an interest in sports law and is presently a member of the SFA Licensing Appeals Panel.
