Open Forum - The Courts Reform (Scotland) Bill Consultation
|Speaker||Gilbert Anderson (Partner, DAC Beachcroft Scotland)|
|Seminar Details||The Royal Faculty is to hold an open forum on the Courts Reform (Sc.) Bill, which gives effect to the proposals of Lord Gill's Scottish Civil Courts Review. To encourage debate around this consultation and to ensure that the response submitted by the RFPG bests reflects the views of the membership on all areas of practice affected by the Bill. There will be at least 2 speakers, including former Dean Gilbert Anderson, followed by a number of contributions from the floor. The Council would greatly welcome the attendance and participation of members with an interest not only in personal injury law and the relative proposals of the Bill but also family law, commercial litigation, housing and debt recovery and indeed summary crime, all of which are affected by the proposals for specialisation of Sheriffs and the introduction of a third tier judiciary, provisionally known as Summary Sheriffs.
Attendance is free for all members of the Royal Faculty (plus up to 2 invited guests per attendee).
|Seminar Time||5.45pm-7.15pm (registration from 5.30pm)|
